The Image

Life is black.
A spiralling void
beyond ancient catacombs
where time stands still
as drops of dew from stalactites
pool on the earthen floor
from where I sip.
On silver ripples of the pool
your reflection comes alive
luminous, as a lone star in a moonless sky.
Why do you reveal yourself?
I question this dramatic revelation
Do I need your company?
Do I concede my loneliness
and seize this blessed opportunity?
Keep you for my own?
Treasure you above all else?
Cast aside memories of years long gone,
once cherished but now discarded from my heart?
I suffer no more.
Forget compatibility.
Is love real or a fallacy?
I swipe my hand across the pool
and erase you
from my life.

Paige Elizabeth Turner

Paige writes across a variety of genres, but prefers to concentrate on her crime / mystery series featuring Private Investigator Olivia Watts and her Watts Happening? Investigations agency. Also dabbling in poetry, Paige produces emotive verse from romance through to environmental issues. Writing is her lifeblood, but as experienced by many writers, there’s a shortfall of financial nutrients feeding the blood.
